Audi's 2008 A5 coupe is the latest vehicle to join the German automaker's expanding product portfolio. The first of several Audis that will reportedly share the vehicle's underpinnings (the next-gen A4 and its variants and upcoming Q5 are the others), A5's top-of-the-line engine is a revised 3.2-liter V-6, direct fuel-injection block pushing out 265 horsepower and 243 lb-ft of torque, which Audi claims will move the coupe from 0 to 62 mph in 6.1 seconds when mated to a six-speed manual. A 1.8-liter direct injection four cylinder delivering 170 horsepower will also be available. Mated to the A5's engine will be a six-speed manual, automatic or Audi's multitronic continuously variable transmission depending upon the configuration, with either front or quattro all-wheel-drive packages. Expect a drop-top version sometime after first U.S. deliveries late this year.
