2005 New York Auto Show Coverage
New York is the first opportunity for U.S. enthusiasts to see the new Ferrari F430 Spider on home soil. The Spider, which is priced at $210,000 - a $25,000 premium over the coupe version - delivers the same scalpel-sharp handling and similar high performance, only al fresco. The 4.3L/483-hp V-8 drives through a six-speed transmission, and Ferrari claims a 0-60-mph time of 4.0 seconds and a top speed of 193 mph. The one-touch control power soft-top and its associated mechanisms have added 50 to 100 lbs over the coupe, depending on specification. Available options include Ferrari's F1-inspired paddleshift auto-clutch six-speed manual with the Manettino integrated chassis control system, and ceramic brake rotors.
