Mid America Motorworks' 2006 VW Funfest Car Show

Mid America Motorworks' Funfest for Air-Cooled VW celebrates the storied VW buses and "Herbies," as thousands of air-cooled Volkswagens and their enthusiastic owners converge in Effingham, Illinois for two days of VW mania - Saturday and Sunday, June 3-4, 2006. New for 2006, is a special Saturday evening event including a "Fantastic Voyage to the Wild West", an old-fashioned BBQ and live entertainment featuring a wild west reenactment and Matt Poss and the Wild Bunch Band, winner of the VH1 2005 Song of the Year.

Hosted at the company headquarters in Effingham, Illinois, Funfest for Air-Cooled VW 2006 is the annual "customer appreciation party" thrown by Mid America Motorworks as a way of saying "thank you" to its air-cooled Volkswagen customers and enthusiasts. The weekend event has grown steadily over the years to accommodate more than 1,000 Volkswagens of all descriptions and more than 8,000 enthusiasts, who come together for a whirlwind weekend of special displays, a car show, swap meet, tech seminars, product demonstrations, ladies' events, kids' events and more.

This year, the newly renovated MY Garage Museum & Retail Store, will showcase a display of Dr. Mac Jones' extremely rare Volkswagens and memorabilia from WWII, some which have never before been seen in the United States. These include a 1943 KDF German Red Cross Kubelwagen Type 60, and a 1945 British Army Kubelwagen, Rare type 21.

Also at Funfest, visitors can take advantage of 10 percent discounts on VW parts and accessories, and free ground shipping on any products purchased during the weekend. On both Saturday and Sunday the "Fun Display" award judging takes place and ladies are treated to special "Spa" programs and beading classes.
