112 0306 Speeding Shootout The Performance Tests Z 60 0 Test Results
60-0 Here's a test with real-world applications. Because of the prevalence of anti-lock braking systems (all but the Mosler have ABS), this is the easiest test to perform--for anybody. It boils down to a test of ABS, electronic brake-force distribution, and tires. From an indicated 65 mph, we hit the brake pedal as hard and as fast as possible until the car comes to rest, and the computer slices out the 60-0 stop from the data. The most remarkable thing with this group is that the new record holder is a Dodge Viper (who'da thunk it!--see John Kiewicz' comments), and its 97-foot braking distance is the first time in history we've recorded a sub-100-foot stop in a production car.
