
Chevrolet Corvettes That Didn't Make It
The Corvette wasn't out a year before GM's design team whipped up a group of dream machines that demonstrated the shapes its new sports car could take. Looking back nearly 50 years, it's clear they demonstrated considerable foresight. From the front: a stock roadster; another wearing a removable hardtop, which became a staple Corvette option in later years; a hardtop fastback coupe--called the Corvair--wearing a body configuration that would appear on both the split-window coupe of '63 and the '99 C5 hardtop; plus a decidedly sporty wagon--named Nomad.
