
Chevrolet Corvettes That Didn't Make It
Chevy must have felt it was onto something with the notion of a mid-engine Wankel-powered Vette and expanded upon XP-892's theme with this longer/lower/wider and more powerful Four Rotor Corvette concept of 1976. When GM canned its rotary-engine program, the four-rotor powerplant was removed and replaced with a small-block Chevy V-8. The car received minor updates and was renamed the Aero-Vette.
