Future: Chevrolet, Jaguar, and Porsche Have Good News For Sports-Car Lovers

505 hp for Z06
The new Z06 is the most powerful production Corvette in history, making 505 horsepower at 6300 rpm. Torque is 470 pound-feet at 4800 rpm.

GM is the first automaker to certify horsepower using the Society of Automotive Engineers' new test procedure, J2723, which gave the Z06 five more ponies, at least on paper, than GM originally predicted for the high-revving 7.0-liter LS7 V-8.

And that may not be the only surprise the new ultra-Vette is going to spring: We're hearing it may even better the 3.7-second 0-to-60 time that's been bandied about. Apparently, GM testers have already run some super-quick numbers.
