This heavily camouflaged sedan is reportedly the next-generation Buick LaCrosse, which is scheduled to arrive sometime in the middle of 2009 as a 2010 model.
Though it is hard to discern many of the styling details, the vehicle is clearly sporting far more modern and squared off sheetmetal than the current bulbous-looking and slow-selling LaCrosse that all-too-closely resembles the second-generation Ford Taurus. From what we can see through the curtains, the grille resembles that of Buick's popular Enclave crossover, though it sits lower in the front fascia and is not as prominent.
Codenamed GMX353, the LaCrosse will be the first North American market vehicle to use the new global Epsilon II platform. The dual exhausts hint at a six-cylinder engine, which will more than likely be a variant of the 3.6-liter V-6 that GM is propagating across its lineup. A direct injection variant will probably be seen as well, though likely detuned from the 304 horsepower it makes in the new Cadillac CTS. A hybrid version is expected as well. Interior quality should be improved, and the car has reportedly been designed to be sold in China as well as the U.S. with minimal changes.
Production of the 2010 Lacrosse is expected to begin in February of 2009 at GM's Fairfax plant in Kansas City, with production numbers expected to be in the 65,000-75,000 range.
