This pre-production example of Aston Martin's long-awaited Rapide four-door sedan/coupe was caught in Scandinavia performing winter testing. Expected to arrive in either late 2009 or early 2010, the Rapide is said to be powered by the DB9's 6.0-liter V-12 rated at 480 horsepower. The extra power is necessary to at least partially offset the extra weight of the Rapide's extra doors.

Little has changed from the concept car shown at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show and the sheetmetal looks to be identical to that of the DB9 from the A-pillar forward. The roof is sharply sloped, so rear-passenger headroom will be minimal. The rear end is similar to that of the DB9 in shape, but the placement of the license plate in the lower rear fascia instead of between the taillights in the trunklid gives it a more reserved look.
