Hyundai Concept Genesis Coupe

Hyundai turned out its highly-anticipated Genesis Coupe in concept form at the 2007 Los Angeles Auto Show -- in Sonic Orange paint no less and adorned with carbon fiber body panels and aerodynamic bits. We know power in base trim will come from a 2.0-liter four with some 200 horsepower or the optional 3.8-liter, 300 horsepower V-6 with power sent to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual or auto gearbox. Contrary to earlier reports, no V-8 is planned for the car at present.

Also confirmed at LA is that the Genesis Coupe will not be a replacement for the Tiburon. Turns out, there will still be a milder front-wheel drive coupe continuing on in the lineup alongside the Genesis Coupe -- possibly based on the Veloster Concept. Other optional goodies will include Brembo brakes and a limited-slip differential. Combined with the aerodynamic trickery on this concept version, these initial details have us eagerly awaiting the production model, set for the spring of 2009. The production trim version of the vehicle is set to debut at the 2008 New York auto show.
