Volkswagen completes the New Beetle family with the launch of an iconic convertible that recalls the classic drop-top Bugs, complete with thick, folded-top bustle and huggable personality. Volkswagen promises its 2.0-liter/115-horsepower I-4 will propel the more-than-flower-powered convertible 0-60 mph in 11.4 seconds; a 1.8-liter/150-horsepower turbocharged engine offering even better performance will arrive later this summer. Standard gadgetry includes anti-lock brakes, side-impact airbags, and Automatic Rollover Supports that deploy from behind the rear seats. Pricing starts at $20,450 for the base GL model, with the turbocharged GLS expected to be $24,100.
