Smart pricing is super aggressive. The Pure (base) model begins at $11,590, the Passion coupe at $13,590, and the Cabriolet rounds out the line at $16,590. Schembri expects most will go for the Passion and add a couple options, but at that, they'll get a Smart with a high standard of equipment, for $14,000-$14,500. It's backed up by a two-year/24,000-mile bumper-to-bumper warranty, and longer coverage is a factory option. Dealers will have stock on hand, but you can also order your Smart exactly as you wish, including extra body panels should you wish to change colors to match your mood or outfit.

The time is right for Smart. It's affordable, fun, and economical to drive, all when people are watching their pennies, caring more about their carbon footprint, and desperately wanting off the drug that is foreign oil. The fourtwo is as safe as a car this size can be engineered to be, and it's a fashion statement and a half. Its size and two-seat-only configuration means it's not the right transportation choice for many, but a brilliant one for some. If you choose so, you'll absolutely enjoy the ride.
