First Look: 2006 Maybach 57S

This is a plus-size hyperluxury four-seater packing an AMG-tuned version of its twin-turbo 5.5-liter V-12. AMG adds 62 horses for an amazing 612 overall. The suspension is tuned to accommodate the higher-performing powerplant and sportier 20-inch wheels and tires, though the dubs crowd will surely have aftermarket 24s on theirs. This may be just the beginning of a new line of driver's cars for Maybach, which is rumored to be working on a smaller, less-expensive four-door pillarless hardtop (based on the upcoming 2006 Mercedes S-Class) in search of higher sales volumes. That W221-based Maybach would be in the size and price range of the Bentley Continental GT and Flying Spur. No word on 57S pricing, but as they say, "if ya gotta ask..."
