First Look: 2007 Cadillac Escalade
• Cadillac will become the first automaker to offer 22-inch wheels. They're great-looking seven-spokers--you'll want to think twice before you replace them with 26s.
• Safety features include head curtain side airbags with rollover protection, dual front airbags, standard StabiliTrak with rollover mitigation, OnStar, tire-pressure monitoring, and larger four-wheel discs with four-channel ABS.
• Luxury rules. The cabin is loaded with soft-touch materials. Nuance leather covers the seats (which are filled with firmer foam); heated seats are standard in the first and second rows. And the color schemes have sexy names like Cocoa-on-Cashmere and Ebony-on-Ebony.
• Optional equipment includes power runningboards, a heated steering wheel, cooled front seats, remote start, and a fold-and-tumble second row. Sorry--bodyguards and handlers aren't on the options list.

2007 Cadillac Escalade EXT
The EXT, in dealer showrooms this summer, offers everything you'd want in a Cadillac pickup. Like its brethren, it sports such styling cues as wraparound fascias, integrated runningboards, and a steeply raked windshield--which helps improve vehicle aerodynamics and reduce wind noise. The two-row cab features the same white-LED backlit gauges and plush seating found in the ESV and the regular Escalade. Also noteworthy: The midgate system returns for 2007. The all-wheel-drive EXT can tow up to 7600 pounds, the same as the ESV and 200 pounds more than the standard Escalade.
