2005 Subaru Legacy GT Review, Price, Specs & Overview

While on a trip from Los Angeles to San Francisco in 100-degree weather, the GT's HVAC system regulated the cabin temperature (set to 75 degrees) by blowing hot air, then cold, then hot, and so on. Even on the return trip (in 75-degree temperatures), the system repeated the scenario. Shouldn't it blow temperate air? On a visit to the dealer service department, we demonstrated the problem to the shop foreman--but the car was handed back to us with no work performed and "normal operation" written on the repair order. We also had a concern with the keyless entry system.

Pressing the remote's unlock button twice should unlock all the doors. In our case, the Subi's lights flashed twice, indicating the signal was received, but only the driver-side door would unlock. We also showed this to the shop foreman, but we were told that the system was operating properly. The owner's manual says, "If the interval between the first and second presses of the unlock button is extremely short, the system may not respond." It seems, in this computer-mouse world of double-clicking, our fingers have grown overanxious. Note to self: When all else fails, read the instructions.
