It's 123 degrees in Death Valley. The LR3's engine temperature gauge hasn't moved off midpoint, even when climbing the renowned testing grade at Stovepipe Wells in 118 F heat. Editor MacKenzie says: "I've done about 1000 miles over the past three weeks, and the LR3 has lived up to its Sport/Utility of the Year win by taking the on-road/off-road compromise to a whole new level. And it's smoother, quieter, and punchier than its luxo-brother. The LR3 oozes around town like molasses on hot toast."
