Opposing opinions fight for attention in the 330i logbook. One of our younger staff members writes, "The 3 Series is still the definition of perfection in the small-sport-sedan market." Another staffer disagrees: "BMW builds a great car. But either the 3 Series isn't pushing the performance-and-fun envelope as much as it once did or, more likely, the competitive set is getting that much better." Both editors feel it's a superb piece, but BMW is behind in the horsepower war, and the rest of the pack has worked hard to catch up. That soon won't be a problem, however, as BMW's new 300-horsepower, twin-turbo I-6 will be offered in the 3 Series sedan next year.
