2001 Dodge Intrepid R/T & Dodge Neon R/T

Dodge recently expanded on its popular R/T line of vehicles by adding two new cars to the mix. The Intrepid R/T and Neon R/T will both go on sale in mid-2000 as ,01 models. They join a family of vehicles that already includes some pretty impressive iron: the Viper R/T10 Roadster, Dakota R/T, Caravan R/T, and Charger R/T concept car.

The R/T name originally stood for ,Road and Track0/00 (dirty words around these hallowed halls!) and dates back to the late ,60s when musclecars ruled the roads, especially those outfitted with the Chrysler Hemi engine.

The Intrepid R/T blends performance and history with practicality to form the modern interpretation of muscle. This four-door, five-passenger sedan is powered by a 3.5-liter V-6 engine mated to an Autostick transaxle, which allows the driver to choose between manual or automatic shifting. Horsepower has been increased to 242 (up from the Intrepid ES,s 225 horsepower) by way of engine computer tweaks. A performance suspension setup and larger tires and wheels deliver improved handling, while larger front brake rotors and calipers help braking.
