Ford's strong-selling compact gets a mild makeover that gives it a more upscale look than before. Interior materials have improved, but lag behind most Japanese competitors. Same goes for the 3.0-liter Duratec V-6; the new 3.5 will be a welcome addition to the Escape's engine roster.
