BMW X5 4.4i - First Drive
But, alas, despite BMW's protestations that the X5 4.4i is nicht lastwagen, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency government lumps it, along with SUVs and minivans, into the light-truck category. Not that we care much what some, especially the feds, call a vehicle, but the X5 has blurred the definition of "sport/utility vehicle" into something else altogether. | BMW X5 4.4i | | GENERAL | | Location of final assembly | Spartanburg, S.C. | | Body style | 4-door, 5-pass. | | EPA size class | Special purpose vehicle | | Drivetrain layout | Front engine, all-wheel-drive | | Airbag | Dual front, front head, front and rear side | | POWERTRAIN | | Engine type | 90º V-8, cast aluminum block and heads | | Bore x stroke, in./mm | 3.62 x 3.26/92.0 x 82.7 | | Displacement, ci/cc | 268.4/4398 | | Compression ratio | 10.0:1 | | Valve gear | DOHC, 4 valves/cyl. | | Fuel/induction system | Seq.
