This 7.4-liter OHV evolution of the Chevy big-block offers a peak of 290 horsepower, 60 more than last year's 7.4-liter. More important for towing, torque is up 25 pound-feet to 410. Increased power comes from roller hydraulic valve lifters, new intake and exhaust manifolds, an increase in compression ratio from 7.9:1 to 9.0:1, and a switch from throttle-body fuel injection to sequential-port fuel injection. With this much torque, you can take the wheels off your giant Airstream and still be first to the hook-ups at the trailer park.
