Although regular '96 Formulas and Trans Ams get a freer-flowing exhaust system that boosts horsepower by 10, to a peak of 285, Pontiac's new-for-'96 Ram Air WS6 Performance and Handling Package strips the stock induction system and replaces it with a short, straight configuration that draws air through twin nostrils on the new composite hood, and then through a low-restriction air cleaner, adding 20 horsepower to the 5.7-liter LT1's peak. The result is a healthier powerband. Not only is this a powerful package, it's also a friendly, easy-to-use assembly.
