Toyota's new Sienna (replacement for the now-defunct Previa minivan) approaches at full speed and is likely to rip off a piece of the action way larger than its expensive rear-drive predecessor. Toyota calls this "the Camry of minivans" for good reason; the North-American built Sienna is based on the Camry's front-drive platform. The capacious interior incorporates plenty of useful features-and even one more cupholder than anything Chrysler builds. Options include a left-side sliding door and hands-free power operation for the right-side slider (late arrival). A great 3.0-liter/194-horsepower V-6 is standard. So is a huge drop in price relative to the old Previa.

Toyota SupraIf you live in a California-emissions state and love the Toyota Supra, you also love automatic transmissions. That's because for '98, the six-speed manual version can't clear the emissions bar and won't be offered in those isolated pockets of jack-booted hydrocarbon discrimination. Hey, you can always move. The rest of the country can enjoy the Supra any way they like, anytime, any place. A pair of 3.0-liter inline six-cylinder engines are offered in the Supra: a pretty exciting 220-horsepower version and a waaaay exciting 320-horsepower twin-turbo thrill machine. With the six-speed manual, you'll snap to 60 mph in just over 5 seconds. The Supra remains one of the most livable serious sports cars on the planet.
