(Jan. '01) Among the criteria used to select our One-Year Test vehicles are "newness" and "impact on the marketplace." The PT scores high on both. Our silver Cruiser carries a base price of $15,935. To that, we added the Limited Edition package (leather/suede upholstery package, side airbags, power moonroof, chromed 16-in. alloy wheels, power locks, cruise control, foglamps, and too much more equipment to list) at $4685. ABS, heated seats, an upgraded sound system, miscellaneous options, and delivery (less package discounts) ran the bottom line to just $21,725. So far, everything we originally said and felt about the PT is holding true. We've experienced no service issues during its young life here, save what appears to be a higher-than-average thirst for engine oil during the early break-in period.
