'94 Ford Mustang GT
The Mustang wins the award for most miles traveled in the shortest time period for a MT long-term car. We've driven more than 10,000 miles over the past four months. Although fuel mileage has dropped drastically, it's not the Mustang's fault. We've been using it for photo shoots and lap times for comparisons to other cars. This can wreak havoc on fuel-consumption numbers, but despite our brick feet, it still has turned in a respectable 17 mpg. With all this hard use, some mechanical troubles might be expected, but it has suffered nary a problem. We've seen a variety of Mustangs on the street (modified, convertible, and V-6), but there aren't too many owners who've had the nerve to step up to the orange-red color of our GT. It's definitely an attention-grabber. The 7500-mile service came to $76.87, and the 15,000-mile checkup is just around the corner. We still wish it had better radio reception and more low-rpm torque.
