MT's 50TH Year Of LettersI've been reading Motor Trend for all 50 years, and I still love it. Your 50th-anniversary issue brings to mind only one word: perfect!Frank G. BattuloWinchester, Mass.
Congratulations on your splendid 50th-anniversary collectors' edition. It is precisely that! It'll be treasured for many years to come. I remember your first issue came out about the time I was starting my senior year in high school. As an auto buff since my preteen years, I secured my first copies of Motor Trend from the newsstands at the corner drug store in my hometown. When I got to college, I began subscribing, and I've kept every copy of the magazine since then. Thank you immensely for a half-century of reliable information and pleasant reading. You've made a magnanimous contribution to those of us with a magnificent obsession-the motorcar!R.G. PuckettRaleigh, N.C.
You have no monopoly on nostalgia where Motor Trend is concerned. I went back into my files and found that I had sold my back issues of Motor Trend for the years 1950 through 1956 through an ad in, what else, Motor Trend. I must come near being a charter subscriber. To the best of my knowledge, my subscription has been continuous since the beginning.T. J. ByrneEl Dorado, Ark.
I've been a car buff and Motor Trend reader since I was about 12 years old, and seeing some of the pictures in your anniversary edition ("Jet vs. Vette," and the flying red Porsche turbo) sure brought back some memories. The complementary original issue supplement will also make a fine addition to my collection. Thanks to you, I've become the #1 Automotive Authority among my friends and family. Congratulations!Danny CorreaMiami, Fla.
I just read your anniversary issue-yes, I got hooked, went on and on, page by page, cover to cover. A spectacular achievement covering so much time, and undoubtedly long in the planning with deciding what to include, or what not to. I'd forgotten some of the ups and downs in the industry. Although an auto historian, I was (at six-feet-two) not "considered" in Detroit's designs since the '50s. Now I'm a bit "older" and am not a prospect at all. It's no wonder so many people are buying pickups and sport/utes; they can get in and out without having to do one-legged knee bends combined with a crouch! This is luxury?Rick LenzBloomington, Calif
What an issue. I just got done reading the 50th-anniversary edition, and it was awesome. I took it with me on a trip to Las Vegas, and my wife had to keep telling me to put it down. Congratulations, editors; your long nights of hard work paid off.Andrew BrezinskiMadison, Ala
Your 50th-anniversary edition issue has been great and brought back a lot of memories! Thanks for the great issue and all the info. I don't know what I would've done without your wonderful magazine to keep me informed. I know I would've looked like an idiot more than once. Thanks a lot for years of great service to your audience. We greatly appreciate it.Brian HofmeisterColumbus, Ohio
Congrats on your 50th anniversary! An avid reader since 1970, I still regard Motor Trend as a long-time good friend and a great travel companion. My passion for cars has been uplifted every year with MT in my mailbox to read cover to cover, over and over. Many thanks for all the great years past and many to follow.
P.S., Van Tune: Your own photo also shows just how well you handle the passing of time !Mike G.Paradise Valley, Ariz.
Wow! That's all I can say after reading the big 50th-anniversary issue. That's probably some of the best work that's come out of Motor Trend. All the classic cars, pictures, and the tests performed on them. One section I liked was the "Meet the Motor Trend Staff" and their top-10 favorite cars. Thanks for 50 wonderful years. I can't wait for the 75th-anniversary issue (if I live long enough to see it). Keep on Trending.Jonathan GarciaAurora, Colo.
