De Tomaso Mangusta
Remember 25 years back when Ford was importing and marketing the De Tomaso Pantera? After a long sabbatical from U.S. markets, De Tomaso will return with the all-new Mangusta. With a clever removable roof section, the Mangusta can metamorphose between coupe, targa, and convertible body styles. Motivated by the same 4.6-liter/320-horsepower V-8 that powers the SVT Cobra, the Mangusta should have no trouble matching the Cobra's 5.2-second 0-60-mph times in its quest to steal sales from the likes of the XK8 and SL-Class. Familiar Ford hardware like climate controls, gauges, and five-speed manual transmission keep this exotic from feeling too foreign.

Dodge Avenger
With a formerly optional 2.5-liter/163-horsepower V-6 taking up residence in the Avenger's engine bay as the one and only available powerplant, the Dodge Avenger effectively receives a performance upgrade for 2000. With a spacious interior that bears little resemblance to the stereotypically cramped coupe, the Avenger is a solid choice for buyers who prefer coupe styling, but need something approaching sedan-style accommodations. Available in three trim levels, if you upgrade to the Avenger Sport, you'll get a rear spoiler, 16-inch aluminum wheels, and power locks and windows. The line-topping ES adds a premium Infinity sound system and power driver's seat.

Dodge caravan
For 2000, Dodge offers a whopping 11 versions of its hugely popular Caravan minivan. With short and long wheelbases, front-drive or all-wheel drive, and countless equipment options, you can effectively custom-build a Caravan to suit your needs. The base model has a lowly 2.4-liter/150-horsepower inline-four and offers limited amenities, but options are plentiful. The top-of-the-line Grand Caravan ES comes with a 3.8-liter/180-horsepower V-6 and includes Infinity sound system, multifunction controls on the steering wheel, and HomeLink universal garage door opener. Viper wannabes will appreciate the ES' sporty AutoStick transmission and 17-inch aluminum wheels.
