Acura 3.5RL
Under constant refinement, Acura's flagship 3.5RL carries on for 2000 with a significant new handling control system called Vehicle Stability Assist. VSA combines traction control, stability enhancement, and ABS to make this big front-driver even more manageable when the going gets dicey, without sapping too much sporting fun. A 3.5-liter/210-horsepower SOHC V-6 propels the 3.5RL with quiet assurance and now meets stringent California LEV standards. Accessed through a larger 7-inch touch screen, a new optional Acura Navigation System covers the entire continental United States with one DVD and lists nearly eight times as many points of interest as did the previous model.

Acura CL-Series
Teasing us mercilessly, Acura has promised a completely new CL-Series coupe, but remains tight-lipped on any of the details. What we do know is that the new coupe will go on sale in the spring of 2000 as either a 2000 or 2001 model. For now, however, the only CL coupes available are strictly '99 models, and all information presented here relates to them. The CL coupe currently comes with a standard 2.3-liter/150-horsepower inline-four with a standard five-speed manual transmission, or more powerful 3.0-liter/200-horsepower V-6 coupled with an automatic. The one-trim-level coupe comes standard with leather upholstery and other perks.

Acura Integra
Acura brings its Integra into the new millennium with longer tuneup intervals and compliance with TLEV emission standards. A redesigned four-speed automatic transmission features improved, smoother shift quality. Other changes for 2000 include a new anti-theft system and an On-board Vapor Recovery System. Coupe and sedan body styles in four different trim levels are powered by a trio of 1.8-liter inline-four engines. The most affordable LS and the leather-lined, upscale GS have a 1.8-liter/140-horsepower DOHC inline-four. The GS-R adds a VTEC version of the same engine to kick out 170 horsepower. Good news for sports fans, the high-winding 195-horse VTEC Type R will be available in 2000.
