Daewoo Leganza
Daewoo, Korea's second largest automotive manufacturer, currently produces 12 passenger vehicles and various commercial vehicles for markets around the world. Its uplevel Leganza entered the U.S. market in '98 to compete in the affordable midsize family sedan class. Powered by a 2.2-liter/131-horsepower DOHC inline-four paired with standard five-speed manual transmission or optional four-speed automatic, the Leganza comes in three trim levels, SE, SX, and CDX. Daewoo Nubira
Taking its styling cues from the Leganza, rumor has it that new sheetmetal will give the mid-level Daewoo Nubira a sleeker, more contemporary look with new wheels and body molding. In its current incarnation, the Nubira will come only in sedan (SE and CDX trim) and wagon styles (in CDX trim only); the hatchback has been dropped for 2000. A solid list of features includes ABS, central locking, and power windows. New optional features on the SE will bring you air conditioning, tilt steering, and power conveniences. The sole engine will remain the same 2.0-liter/129-horsepower DOHC inline-four that motivated the previous-generation car, coupled with a standard five-speed manual gearbox.
