Tuner: 2005 MTI Devil Ray C6 Corvette
On the highway, the Devil Ray proved well mannered. But at the track, it was a demon possessed. Launching the Devil is an exercise in futility as radical tire spin limits the car to just 3.7-second runs to 60 mph. Once the tires hook up (somewhere at the top of second gear), the 427 pulls with ferocity before blasting through the quarter mile in just 11.5 seconds. With a set of drag slicks, MTI claims it has run the 1320 in 10.9 at 129 mph. The acceleration is almost overshadowed by the car's impressive handling and predictability. The ride height reduction, aftermarket wheels, and outstanding PS2 tires--combined with the engine's thunderous torque output--teamed for a stunning 72.9-mph run through the 600-foot slalom. Ferrari's racer-based Challenge Stradale does the deed at 72.7 mph, yet costs truckloads more. With 427 cubes and 600 horsepower at foot, running with the Devil has never been so much fun.
