Most Desirable Convertibles for 2003
Making its debut at the recent North American International Auto Show in Detroit in January 2003, Mercedes-Benz' highly anticipated 12-cylinder SL 600 roadster crowns the SL-Class range with its sophisticated looks, twin turbochargers, and armloads of bleeding-edge technology. Systems like Active Body Control, electrohydraulic Sensotronic Brake Control, automatic climate control system, and an innovative vario roof enhance both safety and driving pleasure. The two-seat SL is powered by a 500-horsepower V-12 promising a claimed 4.7-second 0-60 mph time and a top speed electronically limited to 155 mph. It rides on light alloy wheels wrapped by 255/40ZR18 tires up front with 285/35ZR18 tires in the rear. Though it was originally promised to arrive in dealerships in the Spring, Mercedes-Benz says it will debut in October; industry rumors price it in the mid $120's.
