The Metallic Star of The Matrix: Reloaded

This year's sequel to the movie phenomenon The Matrix starring Keanu Reeves, Laurence Fishburne, and Carrie-Anne Moss, is among the most anticipated movies of the year. And the central chase scene in The Matrix: Reloaded is expected to redefine action filmmaking and visual effects for years to come -- just as the first picture had done.

For the scene, a freeway a mile and a quarter long was built in California and Cadillac was offered a key part in the sequence. About a dozen Cadillac Escalade EXTs and CTS's each were used in the scene. However, since Warner Brothers asked for the cars a year before the cars were produced, Cadillac engineers had to scramble -- cutting and pasting parts of Escalade prototype vehicles with Chevy Avalanche prototypes to make the EXT.

The sleek black and silver cars zoom along the freeway, all while the films stars battle in larger-than-life kung-fu fighting, demonstrating the cars' dynamic performance in a spectacular film sequence destined to keep moviegoers on the edge of their seats.
