In recent years, auto exhibitions have often focused on a "green" theme, showcasing a broad range of ultraclean city cars, electric vehicles, and other new strains of practical, if unexciting, transportation. However, manufacturers cast aside some of their inhibitions at Geneva this spring to sing the praises of sportier offerings. Ferrari, with its awesome F50, and Porsche, with the brilliant new 911 Turbo (for comprehensive coverage see this issue's special Porsche section), reigned supreme among the exotics, while Rover, Fiat, and Renault rolled out attractive and affordable roadsters.
