Scion has built a name or itself in the competitive mall-car market. Smart styling, ice features, and a low price have made it a value leader in its category. What it hasn't been known for, however, is sportiness.
With the introduction of the TC, Scion offers customers sporting edge while maintaining practicality and value. More aggressive body panels, tighter suspension, and an energetic 2.4-liter DOHC i-4(producing a spirited 160 horsepower at 5700 rpm) combine for a fun driving experience.
Greddy takes all this to the next level. Known for forced-induction systems, Greddy Performance Products now offer a complete package that gives new meaning to the letters tC-turbocharged.
First up in the makeover is more power via a Greddy Td05h-18G turbocharger, pressurizing the tC's 144-cubic-inch inline-four cylinder with 8.5 psi of boost. The turbo system ($3595) includes a stainless-steel turbo manifold, front-mounted intercooler, Airinx air intake, custom aluminum inlet piping, and all necessary hardware and clamps. Adding radically more atmosphere without more fuel would be disastrous, so Greddy offers a specially calibrated piggyback ECU for proper tuning and optional (and recommended) oversized 440cc high-flow fue injectors ($795). The increased output exits through a low restriction, throaty-sounding cat-back exhaust system.
