Nissan has announced that pricing for their new 2007 Nissan {{{Versa}}} sedan will be identical to the existing Versa hatchback at $12,500 for the base model. The Versa sedan became available to the public December 20, and shares the same 1.8-liter, 122 horsepower engine and six-speed manual transmission that is standard on the Versa hatchback.

"The new Versa sedan, which maintains the Versa Hatchback's strong value equation, is a welcome addition to the lineup," said Bill Bosley, vice president and general manager, Nissan Division, in a recent press release.

Optional on the top-of-the-line SL model Versas are such accessories as a Bluetooth Hands-Free Phone System, keyless entry and satellite radio. Also avaliable on the SL is Nissan's Xtronic CVT (Continuously Variable Transmission), while the base model makes do with a conventional four-speed automatic. Front seat side-impact and side-curtain supplemental airbags are standard on all models.

The Versa hatchback has recently been granted a five-star rating, the highest rating possible, for side impact crash test safety from the NHTSA. Nissan has sold 17,897 Versa hatchbacks since their arrival in showrooms last June.
