Intern Carlos Lago spent a few days in the SE-R and devised "a list of things you can do to make it feel like a better car."

Lago's list: "(1) Ignore the CVT transmission-its languid response kills any fun you might have while driving, and putting your foot down on the loud pedal results in an endless braaahhhhhhrakk, which becomes annoying very quickly. Instead, use manual mode. (2) Keep glances to the interior at a minimum-the plastics simply lack quality and the orange-yellowish glow from the dash is depressing. (3) Reassure yourself the car won't explode every time you turn it on-the SE-R emits a cringe-inducing grinding noise when the starter kicks over the engine. (4) Last, pretend the Honda Civic Si sedan doesn't exist."
