What that means: Ford is going global, finally, by designing one Fiesta, next Focus, and future C/D-class car, plus MPV and crossover versions, for the world market.
Why he's here and Wagoner's not: Ford ended 2008 in better shape than General Motors thanks to getting a generous line of credit when that was possible. And Mulally has moved Ford further along in "rightsizing" the automaker for the U.S. market of the 2010s.
Warning: Ford is still losing a lot of money. Mulally has joined Wagoner and Nardelli in begging Congress for a federal bailout.
