Why? Whatever happens to GM, Lutz gets credit as chairman Rick Wagoner's handpicked "car guy" who pushed the Cadillac CTS, Chevy Malibu and Camaro, Buick Enclave, Pontiac G8, Solstice and GTO, new Saturns and the Opel/Vauxhall Insignia, and upcoming (we hope) Chevy Volt and Cruze.
Why he's slipped: Should GM fail, all the above goes down in history as "too little, too late."
Prospects for 2010: Should GM survive, the 2011 model year could be its renaissance, thanks to Lutz and his crew.
