21. Kazutoshi Mizuno
Nissan GT-R chief product specialist/chief engineer
Rookie
Influence on: The R33 GT-R, Daytona and Le Mans racing programs, and now a "bargain-priced" 480-horsepower Porsche 911 Turbo/Corvette Z06-beater capable of 0-to-60 mph in 3.3 seconds.
How did he get there? Started with Nissan in 1972, working on exhaust systems and noise/vibration/harshness.
Also influenced: Skyline (Infiniti G35), Stagea, Silvia, Z, Infiniti FX.
He says: "I want to make supercar performance in all conditions."
Most supercars are designed to perform in optimal conditions: Mizuno tested the GT-R at the Nurburgring and Rikubetsu, but he also tested it in virtually every conceivable climate around the world.
And you don't have to be a professional to drive it: Mizuno's GT-R mantra is that it's for "anyone, anywhere, anytime."
