Why he's dropped to 23rd: Every GM exec has lost influence in the last year. Cost has canceled many of Welburn's latest projects.
What he's done: Led design staff on Chevy Malibu, Camaro, Cruze and Volt, Opel Insignia, Buick LaCrosse and Enclave, Cadillac CTS sedan, coupe, and wagon.
What he might have done: A lot of good design no doubt scrapped for financial reasons.
He says: "I want an organization where people really feel part of the solution and really feel free to bring forward ideas."
We say: He's helped lead GM's product solution. Now it needs a financial solution.
