Marketing improved lineup in the worst atmosphere
2008 Rank: 34

Last year: Farley had just left Toyota for Ford.

We said: Without Toyota's products, the Ford job would indicate how good he really is. Little did we know how hard his new job would be.

Successes: Selling well-equipped four-cylinder Fusion/Milans during $4 gas. And EcoBoost powerplants got their name after Farley arrived.

Questionable: Flex didn't launch as successfully as predicted. But then, it launched when nothing was selling.

What's next? Ford's survival plan consists of a shift from trucks to smaller cars. Farley will have to make sure that what works for Congress words for customers.
